Autumn in New England

It's been quite a while since my last post! So much has been keeping me busy these days. I was fortunate to find a position as a preschool teacher and began teaching in late August. It's been a crazy month but I have also taken time to relax and enjoy the beautiful fall weather that has arrived.

Trevor's mom and I have become great friends. She loves cooking, crafts, and gardening and always invites me down to her home in the country to tie on an apron and make things. We've been into canning lately and have made jars and jars and jars of preserves, pickles, relishes, onions, and pickled beets. (All in preparation for the holidays of course).

This weekend Trev and I went down for a day of scrumptious food, adorable animals, tree climbing, and walks by the river. Oh, and I also made a flan and some pumpkin bread, of course.

Did I mention the adorable animals? One of my favorite parts of visiting Deb's house is playing with Odie, the yellow lab, and the many kitties sleeping or scampering around. The newest addition is Tink, a gray kitten named for the sound of the jingle bell on his collar who makes my heart melt.

Can you believe it's October?? The leaves have already begun their transformation to reds, yellows, and oranges. I'm enjoying a festive "Autumn Harvest" fragrance in my car from Yankee Candle. The cooler weather welcomes scarves, sweaters, and tea. Another thing I love about October...my birthday! My family are coming the 21st to celebrate with me for the weekend and I CAN'T WAIT!!! I haven't seen my dad and brother since last Christmas :( It will be so much fun to show my family around my new home in Rhode Island!

On a crafty note, I haven't been doing much sewing. However, I did update many of my crafting tools thanks to an awesome sale on Martha Stewart products at Michaels. My dear friends Maggie Tripp and Jacquie Palmer can anticipate some snail mail soon :)

As for fall crafts, baking, and adventures....I'll keep you posted!
